UNC Football: Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins releasing new list of finalists
Class of 2021 UNC football target Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins plans to release new list of finalists
Last Sunday was supposed to be announcement day for 4-star defensive tackle Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins. Instead, the 6-foot-6, 300-pound 2021 prospect decided that he’d put his college decision off until the last week of June.
Things got a little stranger the following week when Ingram-Dawkins announced via Twitter that he was preparing to release a new list of six finalists. Ingram-Dawkins announced his previous list, one that includes Florida State, Georgia, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee, just two weeks ago.
A soon-to-be senior at Gaffney High School, Ingram-Dawkins is ranked No. 286 overall according to the 247Sports Composite for 2021. He’s 17th among defensive tackles, and first in the state of North Carolina, equating to an aggregate 3-star ranking across all recruiting outlets. The Top247, however, has Ingram-Dawkins ranked even higher at No. 86 overall, fifth at his position and first in the state of South Carolina.
Ingram-Dawkins boasts a large frame with long arms and big hands. He’s an above average athlete, particularly for his size and position. He’s got good speed, and an explosive burst. He’s got good moves and quickness that he uses against the run, and as an interior pass rusher. With continued growth both in his skill and physical conditioning, Ingram-Dawkins projects to be a terrific college football player with the upside of a future NFL lineman.
There are currently four Crystal Ball predictions for Ingram-Dawkins, and 100 percent of them are in favor of the South Carolina Gamecocks. It might be worth mentioning, though, that Ingram-Dawkins has stated multiple times that his recruitment it wide open, despite what the Crystal Ball indicates.
