A few North Carolina Tar Heels’ football commits climb in the updated 247 Sports rankings that were released on Wednesday

The past month or so has been a little quiet for the North Carolina football program in terms of recruiting. But you could say that about a lot of programs in the country with the recruiting dead period.

While we are still a week or so away from players being able to return to campus for voluntary workouts, that’s certainly a good sign for the possibility of football in the Fall.

With the news being a little short regarding recruiting, 247 Sports has made an update to their 2021 class rankings on Wednesday. The site put out the most recent rankings, not to be confused with their composite rankings, and a few UNC players saw a bump.

Making the biggest jump was four-star linebacker  Raneiria “RaRa” Dillworth who committed to North Carolina over Alabama last month. Dillworth moved up from No. 245 to No. 150 overall, a significant jump in the rankings. It’s the second big jump for Dillworth as he climbed the rankings and earned his fourth star back in February.

Joining Dillworth in moving up are UNC commits Keeshawn Silver, a defensive end that is now No. 31 overall in the class and quarterback Drake Maye who is now No. 21. Maye is also the top player in the state of North Carolina per the new rankings.

Defensive end targets Jahvaree Ritzie is now No. 63 overall and Zaire Patterson is up to No. 99 overall. Commits Power Echols (No. 151), Gavin Blackwell (No. 210), and Dontavius Nash (No. 265) fell in the latest rankings.

As it stands now, UNC has the No. 4 overall ranking in the composite rankings on 247 Sports trailing only Ohio State, Tennessee and Clemson.
