UNC Basketball: Chapel Hill hotel to recreate Michael Jordan dorm room
By Zack Pearson
A new hotel is coming to Chapel Hill and it will have a special room dedicated to Michael Jordan’s time at North Carolina
If you’ve ever wanted to know what it felt like to live in Michael Jordan’s dorm room at the University of North Carolina, you now may have the chance. Well, sort of.
Graduate Hotels, a boutique hotel company that focuses on university campuses, is set to open up a new location in Chapel Hill and they are putting an MJ touch on it.
Per ESPN, the hotel will have a room dedicated to Jordan’s time in Chapel Hill and will be designed to look exactly like his dorm rom. Yep, the room will be identical to his dorm room which was once featured in Sports Illustrated.
“The room is an identical replica,” said Graduate Hotels CEO Ben Weprin via ESPN. “From the ceiling, to the brick wall, to the record player and records, the posters, the pennants — every single piece in that room, we have it.”
The suite will be called Room No. 23 and will allow guests to stay in that room dedicated to Jordan’s college days. It’s a way for the new hotel to pay tribute to the GOAT after he spent three seasons with the Tar Heels.
In addition to the new room, the hotel will feature game-worn sneakers from 1983, a $5 check Jordan cashed after winning a game of pool, and last but not least, Jordan’s actual student ID card.
There is no date set for an opening and reservations for the special Jordan room are probably going to go quick.
Episodes 9 and 10 of “The Last Dance” will air on Sunday night as the documentary comes to an end.
