UNC Football: Four-star DE sets decision date
By Zack Pearson
Will the UNC Football program land this four-star defensive end in the 2021 recruiting class? He’s set to make his decision in a few weeks
The North Carolina Tar Heels football program will soon know their fate in the race for a four-star defensive end in the 2021 recruiting class.
After a couple of relatively quiet weeks for the UNC program recruiting-wise, they hope next week begins a string of commitments to add to their No. 3 overall class. A few different targets are set to make their college decisions starting next week with one of them being four-star defensive end Zaire Patterson.
The four-star defensive end out of Winston-Salem has officially set his decision date for late May, the recruit announced via Twitter:
The announcement will come a week after another UNC target, J.J. Jones, is set to make his college decision. It could be the start of a big few weeks for the Tar Heels.
Patterson is ranked No. 304 overall, No. 18 at his position and No. 17 in the state of North Carolina in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He would be another in-state recruiting win for the Tar Heels if they can secure a commitment, something that Mack Brown and his staff have put an emphasis on.
Going into his commitment, it’s unknown who truly leads for Patterson. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and South Carolina are all finalists in the commitment for Patterson. Clemson is the only team with a Crystal Ball prediction for Patterson, landing both on 247 Sports.
