A former UNC Basketball guard has signed a new two-year deal to stay in Europe with his team when the season resumes

A former North Carolina guard is continuing his professional career in Europe despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marcus Paige spent a few years in the NBA’s G-League following a four-year career with the Tar Heels, hoping to reach the NBA level eventually. But Paige’s career took another turn as he ended up signing overseas with Partizan NIS, a member of the Basketball League of Serbia and ABA League as well as the Euro Cup.

Paige found success right away with Partizan NIS in 2018 and won back-to-back Serbian Cups in 2019 and 2020 as well as the ABA SuperCup in 2019. Now Paige is returning back to Serbia hoping to find more success.

According to EuroHoops.net, Paige will return to Partizan for at least two more years as he signed a brand new deal.

Prior to the EuroCup league’s suspension due to COVID-19, the 26-year-old Paige averaged 8.8 points per game. He was even better in the ABA averaging 10.7 points while shooting 48% from the 3-point line.  It’s unknown when the season will resume in Serbia due to this pandemic.

In his four-year career with the Tar Heels, Paige averaged 13.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from the three-point line.

Paige also earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors twice as well as an All-ACC freshman honor.
