A UNC Football target in the 2021 recruiting class his set his announcement date for later this Summer. What are UNC’s chances to land him?

The North Carolina Tar Heels got off to a hot start with their 2021 football recruiting class, reaching as high as No. 2 in the team rankings.

The past few weeks have been a bit quiet for the Tar Heels on the recruiting front and they have fallen back to No. 3 behind Tennessee and Ohio State. That was expected, honestly but the Tar Heels are done adding yet.

Mack Brown and his staff still has plenty of targets left on their 2021 recruiting board and are hoping to turn in a Top 10 class when it’s all said and done on National Signing Day in February of 2021. One of those targets is a wide receiver from the state of South Carolina, three-star recruit J.J. Jones.

The receiver has emerged as a top target for UNC in this class and now he’s set his commitment date. Jones announced via Twitter on Saturday that it will be a few more months before he officially commits, listing August 5th as the official day:

Jones made a few updates to his recruitment over the past month or so, naming his 10 schools and then trimming it down to five. The Tar Heels made the cut on both lists and will battle out the SEC for Jones as South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi State all made the cut as well.

The receiver is ranked as the No. 414th overall player, No. 67 WR and No. 3 in the state of South Carolina per 247 Sports recruiting rankings.
