UNC Basketball: 5-star UNC target Patrick Baldwin names top 10 schools
5-star UNC basketball target Patrick Baldwin, Jr. names top 10 schools
Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels hope to continue their hot streak on the recruiting trail after securing the nation’s No. 2-ranked class for the 2020 cycle.
They’ll have a fighting chance at that if they can reel in prospects like Patrick Baldwin, Jr., a 5-star small forward in the class of 2021 that named North Carolina among a list of 10 finalists on Saturday night.

Along with the Tar Heels, Baldwin listed Duke, Georgetown, Kentucky, Michigan, Northwestern, UCLA, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He cut his growing list of potential schools in half after racking up 20 scholarship offers over the past year-plus. In doing so, he eliminated schools such as Florida, Kansas and Marquette.
A 6-foot-9, 190-pound wing out of Hamilton High School in Sussex, Wisconsin, Baldwin is ranked third overall in his class according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s second among players at his position, and first in the state of Wisconsin.
Baldwin has terrific length and athleticism that affords him the ability to play either forward position, and helps him create mismatches on both ends of the court. He can score from all three levels, runs the floor well and isn’t afraid to drive the lane for big finishes above the rim. He’s also got good handles for a big man, and an outstanding basketball I.Q. Some of that comes from his father, Patrick Baldwin, Sr., who’s the head coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It’s also the reason why the Panthers have made Baldwin’s list of 10 finalists.
There’s no timetable for a commitment from Baldwin at this point, but I’d expect at least one more round of cuts before a final decision in his recruitment is made.
Stick with Keeping It Heel for all the latest on the Patrick Baldwin, Jr. recruitment, and everything UNC basketball.
