ESPN has released their updated Top 100 recruiting rankings for 2020 and five Tar Heels commits made the list

With the 2020 recruiting cycle wrapping up over the next month, the focus will shift to 2021 for a lot of programs.

For the North Carolina Tar Heels, they will finish 2020 with six commitments and a class that is ranked No. 3 overall. Roy Williams and his staff have put in some hard work to land this class and now they await for the results to appear in Chapel Hill.

UNC got off to a great start in the class back in 2018 when Day’Ron Sharpe offered his verbal commitment to the class. It wasn’t until a year later than five-star forward Walker Kessler would join him and shorty after that, the flood gates opened with commitments from Caleb Love, R.J. Davis and Donovan “Puff” Johnson. The class was then finished off by a commitment by Kerwin Walton just a few days back.

As the recruiting world shifts to 2021, ESPN has decided to update and release their final Top 100 list for the 2020 class.

The Tar Heels had five of their six recruits named to the final Top 100 list with Walton being the lone recruit not named. But UNC was well represented, especially in the top 20. Check out where UNC players ranked in the final list:

  • No. 11 Day’Ron Sharpe
  • No. 13 Walker Kessler
  • No. 17 Caleb Love
  • No. 40 R. J. Davis
  • No. 56 Donovan “Puff” Johnson

As you see above, UNC had three recruits in the Top 20 and four in the Top 50. That’s pretty damn impressive and has their class ranked No. 3 overall on ESPN behind only Duke and Kentucky.

The only UNC recruit to move up in the updated rankings is Kessler who jumped one spot from No. 14 to No. 13. Both Davis and Johnson each fell one spot.

dark. Next. Caleb Love to remain at UNC despite G-League offer
