The UNC Basketball program is still awaiting the decision from four-star shooting guard Kerwin Walton as he has yet to announce

The North Carolina Tar Heels were hoping to land a commitment from four-star guard Kerwin Walton this weekend. But now they will have to wait a little longer.

Walton set a decision date of Saturday but no time as he was set to pick between North Carolina, Arizona, Creighton, Vanderbilt and Minnesota. Saturday came and all programs waited for the announcement through the night and eventually into Sunday. But then there wasn’t an announcement at all on Sunday, hinting that the recruit hasn’t made up his mind now.

As we type this on Sunday night, Walton is still uncommitted but there is still some news regarding his decision.

Per Marcus Fuller of the Star Tribune, Walton is struggling to decide between two schools in his recruitment: North Carolina and Minnesota. This is what has been leading the stalling in making a decision. Here is what Fuller reported on Sunday night:

"Walton’s announcement failed to come as expected Saturday. No updates on the process came Sunday from the four-star prospect. Walton and his family had been struggling late Saturday to decide between the Gophers and North Carolina, according to sources with knowledge. It’s unclear now, though, if Walton’s decision is down to a two-program race. His finalists also included Arizona, Creighton, Georgetown and Vanderbilt."

With no decision on Saturday or Sunday, it’s likely Walton will announce sometime on Monday and end his recruitment.

Walton is ranked as the No. 99 prospect in the country and is known to be one of the top shooters in the Midwest. The Tar Heels currently have a five-man 2020 recruiting class that is ranked No. 3 overall but adding Walton would certainly help fill a need on the wing.

It’s unknown exactly the time Walton will announce but we will keep this article updated with more.
