Roy Williams and the UNC basketball program await the decision of 4-star shooting guard Kerwin Walton, whose college announcement is set for Saturday.

Kerwin Walton, a 4-star shooting guard and one of the few remaining uncommitted prospects in the class of 2020, will make his college announcement on Saturday. His decision will come down to a list of six finalists that includes Arizona, Creighton, Georgetown, Minnesota, North Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Despite trimming down his list of prospective schools back in late March, Walton has done very little to tip his hand in the weeks since. There is a belief among some recruiting insiders that Walton is leaning toward North Carolina, particularly those at Rivals. Four of the site’s five analyst predictions favor the Tar Heels, who now have two open scholarships after departures from Brandon Huffman and Jeremiah Francis.

According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson, Walton recently held Zoom calls with Minnesota and North Carolina, and may have one with Georgetown on Thursday. After speaking with Walton’s father, Wolfson concluded that no final decision has been made yet, and multiple schools remain in contention. Wolfson did, however, note that even though Creighton has not been eliminated, he didn’t get a strong feeling that the Blue Jays would come out victorious. Somewhat surprisingly, there have still been no votes cast in Walton’s 247Sports Crystal Ball.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound prospect is ranked 99th overall in the 247Sports Composite for 2020. A senior at Hopkins High School, Walton is ranked 17th among players at his position, and No. 5 in the state of Minnesota.

Next. Jeremiah Francis is leaving North Carolina. dark
