The UNC Basketball program has their eyes on a five-star small forward in the 2021 recruiting class but will they make his updated list?

The North Carolina Tar Heels secured their first commitment of the 2021 recruiting cycle over the weekend, landing four-star forward Dontrez Styles.

With Styles committing, Roy Williams and his staff hope that opens up a door and the Tar Heels can get rolling for that 2021 cycle. The program has six scholarship offers out to prospects in the class and all six are five-star recruits.

Among them is small forward Harrison Ingram out of Dallas. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Ingram is ranked No. 17 overall, No. 6 at his position and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas per the 247 Sports composite rankings. He has a total of 23 offers in his recruitment and has already taken some visits.

Ingram hasn’t made any updates during this quiet recruiting period but that could soon change per one analyst.

Rivals reporter Corey Evans wrote in his Twitter Tuesday article about Ingram’s recruitment and what he expects moving forward. That news included the Tar Heels:

"Now, that could definitely change between now and his decision. I am expecting Ingram to produce another cut list in the coming days. That might not be a final five but, if I had to guess, Purdue, Stanford, Memphis, North Carolina and Texas A&M will make whatever list he releases.Ingram is really strong student in the classroom which is why Purdue and Stanford are in a good spot. He is intrigued by the blueblood realm which has led to North Carolina’s involvement. Ingram has family in the Memphis area and, lastly, is very good friends with Aggies’ commits Manny Obaseki and Jaxson Robinson."

Evans originally had Ingram landing with Purdue but changed his prediction to Stanford just last week. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball also favors Stanford at the moment, a program that just landed Ziaire Williams in the 2020 class.

But don’t count the Tar Heels out just yet.

As Evans noted, the blue blood program has intrigued Ingram in his recruitment and the Tar Heels should be involved until the very end. While there is no set timeline for Ingram to commit or even cut his list, we imagine UNC will make that list once it’s done.
