UNC Football: Tar Heels land 3-star lineman Jared Wilson
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Football program has landed two recruits for their 2021 class on Friday and now have the No. 2 overall class in 2021.
Mack Brown and his staff at the University of North Carolina were hoping for a big commitment on Friday as four-star linebacker RaRa Dillworth was set to announce. The program received great news as Dillworth committed to North Carolina on Friday afternoon, becoming the 13th player to join the 2021 class.
But they weren’t done.
Just seconds after Dillworth committed to the Tar Heels on a live stream from Inside Carolina, his close friend and three-star recruit Jared Wilson decided to join in on the fun. Dillworth introduced Wilson on the live stream and the three-star proceeded to also commit to North Carolina, a big surprise.

That makes two commitments for Brown and his program in a matter of seconds as the class has now grown to 14 players. Wilson is a three-star prospect that is ranked No. 390 nationally, No. 20 at offensive guard and No. 22 in the State of North Carolina. He’s another in-state product that joins the Tar Heels, making 13 players from the state in their class.
Brown and his staff have put an emphasis in recruiting players from the state of North Carolina and it’s starting to pay off with two more recruits on Friday. The two commitments on Friday have now bumped UNC past Clemson in the rankings as they hold the No. 2 spot overall.
Wilson picked the Tar Heels over 15 other offers including Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, N.C. State and Duke.
