The UNC Football program lands a big time commit in four-star linebacker RaRa Dillworth as he becomes the 13th player to join the Tar Heels 2021 class

The quiet period in recruiting for college sports hasn’t slowed down the North Carolina Tar Heels football program.

In the month since the recruiting period has gone quiet, the Tar Heels have been able to secure a few big recruits for their 2021 class. But Friday’s commitment might just be the biggest.

Class of 2021 four-star linebacker RaRa Dillworth officially offered his verbal commitment to the Tar Heels on Friday, picking them over Alabama. Yep, the Tar Heels beat out Alabama to land a big in-state four-star recruit.

Dillworth had hinted at a commitment coming soon in the previous weeks and decided on April 17th, his grandmother’s birthday, and picked the Tar Heels.

He’s ranked as the No. 223rd prospect overall, No. 17 outside linebacker and the No. 13 player in the state of North Carolina by 247 Sports.  He becomes the 13th player to pledge his commitment to the Tar Heels in the 2021 class as they are now ranked No. 3 overall.

Dillworth initially considered UNC, Alabama, N.C. State, South Carolina and Georgia in his recruitment before trimming his list down to the Tar Heels and Crimson Tide. He decided to stay in-state, which has been a big focus for the Tar Heels since Mack Brown returned to take over as head coach.

The Tar Heels now await the decision of defensive back Bryce Steele who will announce on Saturday.
