UNC Football: Tar Heels make the cut for 3-star WR’s Top 10
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Football program makes the Top 10 for a three-star recruiting target out of South Carolina as he announced his list on Wednesday.
After landing a Top 20 recruiting class in 2020, Mack Brown and his staff at North Carolina are hoping for a historic class in 2021. And so far, they are off to a great start.
The Tar Heels’ 2021 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 3 overall by 247 Sports, securing 12 commitments so far. While it’s still early in the recruiting cycle, UNC has done a great job of landing 11 in-state players and 1 out of state recruit. Their class is filled with 10 four-star recruits, and two three-star recruits.
UNC still has a lot of big targets left on their recruiting board and on Wednesday they received some good news regarding their chances with a three-star wide receiver.
J.J. Jones took to Twitter to provide an update on his recruitment, cutting his list of 34 offers down to 10 finalists. Among them? The Tar Heels:
Joining UNC in the Top 10 for the three-star recruit are Georgia, West Virginia, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Penn State, Tennessee, Michigan and South Carolina. Some tough competition for the Tar Heels.
Jones is ranked as the No. 429 player overall by 247 Sports and the No. 4 player in the State of South Carolina. He plays his high school ball at Myrtle Beach High School and he might be tough to pull out of the state. But so far, the news has been good for the Tar Heels in their pursuit of the receiver.
