Tar Heels shift focus to Kerwin Walton

With Williams out of the picture, the Tar Heels have one target remaining on their draft board for the 2020 recruiting class.

That target is four-star shooting guard Kerwin Walton.

The shift now focuses to the Minnesota native as Roy Williams and his staff hope to add another piece to their 2020 recruiting class. The addition of Walton would give North Carolina their third four-star recruit and another option on the wing, something that is currently a need.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound wing is a good fit for what Williams wants to do with his offense and he projects to be a multi-year player. UNC could strike gold with a recruit like Walton, especially if he stayed four years.

Throughout high school, Walton has proven that he can be a good shooter from almost anywhere on the court which is his biggest asset to his game. He can drive, shoot mid-range and long-range, something that UNC would love to add.

Walton will make his decision on April 25th and UNC currently has one prediction from Rivals’ analyst Eric Bossi:

"Ranked No. 87 nationally in 2020, the 6-foot-5 product of Minnetonka (Minn.) Hopkins has excellent size and long arms to go along with his deadly jump shot. With the announced transfer of junior big man  Brandon Huffman made public at the end of last week, North Carolina now has the available scholarship needed to add Walton and I feel it is the team to beat so I’ve made my FutureCast in favor of the Heels."

However, there hasn’t been any predictions on the247 Sports Crystal Ball just yet. It appears as if UNC might be the team to beat in this recruitment especially now that Williams has picked Stanford.
