A former UNC Basketball recruiting target has decided to decommit from Michigan and instead go overseas to play professionally

The North Carolina Tar Heels were one of several teams that were interested in five-star 2020 recruit Isaiah Todd. The Raleigh, North Carolina native was one of the top recruits in that 2020 recruiting class, ranking No. 13 overall.

Early on, it appeared as if Todd was destined to land at North Carolina after receiving a scholarship and then visiting campus several times. There were reports that Todd would visit campus and play in some pickup games with UNC players and recruits.

However, Todd eliminated the Tar Heels from his finalists list and then eventually picked the Michigan Wolverines. But now he’s had a change of heart.

On Tuesday, Todd announced that he was decommitting from North Carolina and instead will pursue a professional career overseas:

Todd will hire an agent and will not be eligible to play college basketball next season. It’s a move that some anticipated for Todd throughout his recruitment and UNC may have dodged a bullet here.

At 6-foot-10, 195 pounds, Todd is an elite wing that is one of the top scorers in this recruiting class. He would have fit a need for UNC on the wing but now his plans all along have come out and it’s probably for the better that UNC didn’t land him. The recruitment was a bit of a tease for Tar Heels fans as well. UNC’s 2020 class is currently ranked No. 3 overall.

Next. Will UNC land this 5-star PG?. dark
