Some rare footage has surfaced of Vince Carter and Julius Peppers in a pickup game on the campus of Chapel Hill from the ’90s.

The amount of talented athletes on the University of North Carolina’s campus during the ’90s was crazy, both in the football and basketball programs. But not many can compare to Vince Carter and Julius Peppers.

Carter attended North Carolina from 1995-98 where he was a star for the basketball team. From there, he went on to become the No. 5 overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft.

Peppers was a two-sport athlete at North Carolina, attending from 1998-2001 but was a dominant force on the football field. He went on to become the No. 2 overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft.

With all of the talent on campus, the Summer basketball runs on campus were crazy and featured some basketball and football players. Each year we hear about the players returning to campus to play in games as well as current players running pickup on the campus. But those 90’s games must have been insane.

While we are all in quarantine, Peppers decided to take a look at some old footage of him at North Carolina and busted out a gem on Instagram. He posted a video of him leaping to go up and block a shot and actually out-jumps Carter. But he didn’t get the block. Instead, Carter leaped right over him to finish the slam:

Carter is one of the best dunkers in NBA history and has some serious hops, so it’s not shocking to see him leap like that.

It’s rare we get to see footage like this from old basketball runs so we need to cherish when we do get to see them. Let’s hope some more footage like this comes out and we can enjoy it.
