The UNC Football program has a Top 3 class already in 2021 and can add to it which is a good sign for the future of this team

Mack Brown and his staff at North Carolina have really turned the program around in a hurry.

After two-straight losing seasons in which they won a total of three games, the Tar Heels finished 7-6 and won their first bowl game since 2013. They have high expectations going into the 2020 season and they should be a contender in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division.

A big reason for UNC’s success has been the recruiting Brown and his staff have done.

Despite taking the job in November of 2018, Brown turned in a Top 30 recruiting class for 2019 and that class had a big impact last season. He followed it up with a Top 20 class for 2020 which will be on campus this year.

But the Tar Heels could be on the verge of a very special class for the 2021 cycle.

UNC just earned their 12th commitment for the 2021 class when four-star running back Kamarro Edmonds pledged his verbal on Friday. Edmonds is the 11th player from the state of North Carolina to commit to the Tar Heels, something that has been an emphasis for the program since Brown took over.

With the commitment of Edmonds, UNC’s class actually jumped up one spot in 247 Sports’ recruiting rankings to No. 3 overall. That class is No. 2 in the ACC behind only Clemson who ranks No. 2.

I have to say, it’s a little weird seeing UNC that high up in the rankings next to teams like Ohio State, Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, etc. Yeah, it’s still very early in the recruiting cycle but there doesn’t appear to be any slowing down from this class. All 12 commits appear to be solid as well which is a good sign.

The Tar Heels still have offers out for some big recruits including five-stars Payton Page and Will Shipley. Adding one of those players could really put this class over the top.
