UNC Football quarterback Sam Howell is a sneaky pick to win the 2020 Heisman Trophy judging by the latest odds in April

North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell took the Atlantic Coast Conference by storm last season with his impressive freshman season. As North Carolina and the ACC were noticing his play, it took a bit for the rest of the nation to do so.

But by the end of his record-breaking freshman campaign, Howell put the rest of college football on notice.

Going into this 2020 season, COVID-19 has had a major impact on Spring practices, shutting them down as well as recruitment for at least a month-and-a-half. It is still early in the Spring but there are some small concerns about the future status of next season.

However, going into that next season Howell has been listed as an interesting pick for the Heisman Trophy.  Back in December, the Action Network released their odds with Howell sitting at 20/1. But since then the odds have been updated here in April and FoxBet Digital has provided theirs.

Howell is at 40/1 according to FoxBet Digital’s latest odds, which is better value if you’re looking to score a few bucks on the quarterback’s potential. Oddshark currently has Howell at 25/1 in their updated odds.

The quarterback is coming off a big freshman season in which he started every game for the Tar Heels, completing 61.4 percent of his attempts while throwing for 3,641 yards and 38 touchdowns. He threw just 7 interceptions the entire season.

After leading UNC to a 7-6 record and their first bowl win since 2013, Howell and the Tar Heels have become a trendy pick to win the ACC Coastal Division next season.
