UNC Football: Tar Heels make top list for 5-star OT in 2021 class

Mack Brown and the UNC Football program are still in the running for one of the top players in the 2021 recruiting class as he sets his decision date

The North Carolina Tar Heels’ football program received some good news over the past two days, landing two commitments from athletes in the 2021 recruiting class.

First it was three-star athlete Tymir Brown pledging his verbal commitment on Tuesday night to the Tar Heels. Then on Wednesday, four-star athlete DeAndre Boykins verbally committed to the program, giving UNC 11 commitments in the class.

While they haven’t landed a commitment on Thursday, yet, they did still get some good news regarding a five-star player in the 2021 class. Offensive tackle Amarius Mims released his Top 14 list on Thursday, cutting down his list from the 17 offers to 14 teams. Included on that list was the Tar Heels:

In addition to trimming his list, Mims also announced he would officially make his commitment to a program on October 14th.

As you can see above, that is a stacked list with very good programs on it. Joining UNC are Clemson, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Southern Cal, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Oregon and Tennessee.

Mims is ranked No. 8 overall in the 2021 recruiting class and is the the No. 2 player at his position and the top player in the state of Georgia per 247 Sports. Currently, in-state Georgia leads the way in the Crystal Ball predictor, landing all four of the predictions.
