The UNC Football program landed a HUGE commitment from a four-star defensive end in the 2021 recruiting class on Tuesday

Tuesday night was truly a great night to be a Tar Heel.

Not only did the North Carolina men’s basketball team win their third-straight game by beating Wake Forest on Senior night but the football program also got into the fun.

After class of 2021 defensive end Keeshawn Silver showed up for an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill to take in the game, it didn’t take him long to make his decision. Silver offered his verbal commitment to the Tar Heels just hours into his visit on Tuesday night.

Silver posted this message on Twitter to announce his commitment:

This commitment is HUGE for North Carolina and their 2021 class as they beat out Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Oregon. But not only did they land a stud defensive end but they also just landed one of the top players in the state of North Carolina.

Just last week ESPN listed Silver No. 10 overall in their 2021 updated rankings and upgraded him to a five-star recruit. Only defensive tackle and five-star recruit Payton Page ranks higher on that list.

Silver is ranked as the No. 107 player overall and No. 5 in the state of North Carolina by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He’s listed as a four-star recruit by 247 and the No. 2 player in North Carolina in the non-Composite rankings.

The 6-foot-5, 236-pound Silver is the seventh player to commit to North Carolina for the 2021 recruiting class, with all seven players from the state of North Carolina. The class now ranks No. 8 overall early in the recruiting cycle.
