February 18th, 2015: Duke 92 – UNC 90

North Carolina played a terrible first half in this game, but managed to find a way to lead by nine with 2:41 left in the second half. But that’s when everything went wrong for the Tar Heels.

The Tar Heels allowed Tyus Jones to score nine points in the final minute and a half of the game, forcing the game to go into overtime, which ultimately led to a UNC loss.

It was a Duke team that had incredible talent. That’s why it hurt UNC fans so much to collapse like that with just a minute or so left in the game. This Duke team was loaded up and down the lineup with Quinn Cook, Tyus Jones, Justise Winslow, Jahlil Okafor, Amile Jefferson and Marshall Plumlee. On the other side, the Tar Heels were led by Marcus Paige, Justin Jackson, Brice Johnson, Kennedy Meeks and a young Joel Berry.

This game would’ve been one of those season-defining moments that every elite team looks for while preparing for March, but UNC let it slip away in dramatic fashion. Duke went on to win the National Championship, showing just how big this win could’ve been for the Tar Heels.
