The UNC basketball program could be without starting center Armando Bacot when the Wake Forest Demon Deacons come to town on Tuesday.

North Carolina freshman center Armando Bacot was a limited participant at the team’s practice on Monday, and remains questionable for Tuesday night’s game against Wake Forest.

"“Armando did nothing live today. He did some dummy offense and dummy secondary break, but nothing live,” UNC head coach Roy Williams said during his Monday teleconference. “If we were playing the game tonight he would not have played, so he’s got to get better tomorrow before we can play him tomorrow.”"

Bacot left in the first half of North Carolina’s game at Syracuse on Saturday night after sustaining a right ankle injury that kept him sidelined for the remainder of the evening. Bacot was seen with an ice pack on his ankle in the locker room after the game.

Justin Pierce got the second half start in Bacot’s absence. He and sophomore guard/forward Leaky Black shared time in the front court, as the Tar Heels played small ball with their starting center sidelined.

Bacot has battled injuries throughout the season, but he’s still managed to play in all 29 of the Tar Heels’ games this season. On a few occasions, however, he was forced to leave a game in the first half, and sit out for the rest of the game either in pain or for precautionary reasons.

The 6-foot-10, 232-pound Bacot is averaging 9.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game this season while shooting nearly 46 percent from the floor. He’s fourth on the team in points, second in rebounds and first in blocks.
