UNC Baseball: Tar Heels blank North Carolina A&T on Tuesday

The UNC baseball team got back on the right track with an 8-0 victory over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday afternoon.

Dylan Harris went 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of walks, three runs scored and a run batted in, and North Carolina beat North Carolina A&T by a final score of 8-0 at Boshamer Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore shortstop Danny Serretti had a pair of hits in five at bats. He walked once, scored a couple of runs and had an RBI batting third in the lineup. Angel Zarate left six runners on base, but went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman infielder Tyler Causey had a pinch-hit home run for the Tar Heels in the eighth inning.

Redshirt freshman Max Alba got the win in his first career start for the Tar Heels. He pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six batters. Three North Carolina relievers — Joyner, James and Palermo — pitched four innings of two-hit baseball. They struck out three, and didn’t allow a single walk in four innings.

The Aggies compiled just four hits on the day, three of which came from first baseman Alex Bibb. The rest of the team combined for one hit, nine strikeouts and four men left on base. Gianni Smith gave up five hits, five walks and two earned runs, and came away with his second loss of the season.

The Tar Heels, 7-2, will be back on the field on Friday evening when they travel to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Cambria College Classic.
