The UNC Women’s Lacrosse program has a big win over No. 3 Maryland, setting a new program mark in Saturday’s contest

The North Carolina Tar Heels women’s Lacrosse team continues to roll.

Following their win over No. 3 Maryland on Saturday afternoon, the Tar Heels improved to 4-0 on the young season and racked up their most impressive victory of the year thus far. The 19-6 rout of the Terrapins were the most goals UNC has scored in program history over Maryland. It’s a very important win as the Terrapins have been the most successful women’s Lacrosse program in college over the past decade.

But Saturday’s loss to UNC sent the Terrapins to their second-straight loss, while the Tar Heels continue to trend upward.

Maryland got off to a fast start on Saturday, scoring 44 seconds into the game on a goal by Brindi Griffin. After that, the Tar Heels were able to turn it up a notch as they would score three unanswered with goals from Scottie Rose Growney, Jamie Ortega, and Katie Hoeg.

UNC took a 7-4 lead into the halftime break and then really put their foot on the gas in the second half.
