An assistant UNC basketball coach was in Corydon, Indiana on Friday night to watch 4-star power forward Trey Kaufman.

On the eve of a marquee road conference matchup with the No. 11 Louisville Cardinals on Saturday, a member of the Tar Heels’ coaching staff was in Corydon, Indiana to take a look at 4-star power forward Trey Kaufman.

According to Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten, that (unnamed) North Carolina assistant watched Kaufman go for 39 points and 13 rebounds against Corydon Central High School. It’s just the latest in a string of good games for the talented junior that includes a 30-point, nine-rebound performance against Austin on Tuesday, and a 34-point, eight-rebound game at Scottsburg last Friday. Kaufman is averaging 25.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 steals in 22 games this season. His team is 20-2 in those 22 games.

Kaufman is a 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward from Sellersburg, Indiana that’s ranked 60th in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s No. 14 among players at his position, and third in the state of Indiana. It’s worth noting, though, that the Top247 ranks Kaufman at No. 28 in the class of 2021.

He’s already holding several scholarship offers, including ones from Indiana, Louisville, Purdue and Xavier. The Tar Heels are just the latest program to join the Kaufman sweepstakes, while the Hoosiers, on the other hand, have been involved for quite some time. Kaufman has already visited Indiana a number of times, as well as receiving visits from Archie Miller and company on multiple occasions.

There’s no telling at this point where Kaufman will end up, but his recruitment is likely to pick up over the next several months, especially with the involvement of programs like North Carolina.
