The UNC Football program officially offered a safety in the 2023 class who happens to be a brother of a 2020 commit

The North Carolina Tar Heels have found some success in the state of North Carolina recruiting-wise since Mack Brown took over as head coach.

Brown has been here for two recruiting classes in 2019 and 2020, but didn’t really get to fully control his first one until this 2020 cycle. UNC signed a Top 20 class in 2020 which is a great start for a program that is coming off a 7-6 season and a bowl win.

As it stands now, UNC has five commits in the 2021 recruiting class which early on looks like it could be a big one for Brown and his staff. But they aren’t done looking at future classes either.

On Tuesday, the Tar Heels offered another in-state recruit that has a connection to the program.

Class of 2023 safety Caleb Downs revealed on Twitter that he has received an offer from North Carolina by posting this message:

If the last name Downs sounds familiar that’s because Caleb’s brother, Josh, is a Top 100 player and a class of 2020 signee with the Tar Heels. It’s possible we could have both Downs brothers on the roster at one point.

Caleb is currently unranked as the 2023 class doesn’t have any rankings as of now. He has a total of two offers in his recruitment early on, landing one from N.C. State and now North Carolina which were programs that battled for Joshua in his recruitment. We could be dealing with another Wolfpack-Tar Heels recruiting battle with a long way to go in the 2023 class.
