UNC Basketball: Three future Tar Heels named to Nike Hoop Summit team
Three UNC basketball commits have been named to the Nike Hoop Summit roster
The North Carolina Tar Heels will be well-represented on the national stage this spring in a handful of All-Star games that will feature a number of future UNC basketball players.
UNC commits Day’Ron Sharpe, Walker Kessler and Caleb Love have been named to the USA roster for the 2020 Nike Hoop Summit. The Tar Heels place more pledges on the squad than any other college basketball program. Montverde Academy also claims three players on the squad, including Sharpe, who has been an integral part of the team’s 25-0 record and No. 1 ranking this season.
Sharpe, Kessler and Love are the three 5-star members of the Tar Heels’ five-man 2020 recruiting class. The 6-foot-10, 246-pound Sharpe Is ranked 14th in the nation. He’s ranked third among centers in the class, and No. 3 in the state of Florida. Kessler is a 7-foot, 245-pound center that’s ranked No. 17 in the nation, and fourth among centers. He’s the top-ranked player in the state of Georgia. Love, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound point guard is up to 18th in the latest 247Sports Composite, and second among point guards in the class. He’s also the No. 1 prospect from the state of Missouri.

All three were named to the 2020 McDonald’s All-American game — as well as 4-star point guard and UNC commit R.J. Davis — and will likely get nods to this year’s Jordan Brand Classic, too. Love and Davis were among those named to the upcoming 2020 Allen Iverson Roundball Classic.
The Nike Hoop Summit is an annual basketball game that pits top U.S. high school senior boys against a World Select Team comprised of elite international players who are 19 years old or younger. Current North Carolina freshman point guard Cole Anthony scored a team-high 25 points for the Americans in last year’s game, helping Team USA beat the international squad by a final score of 93-87.
The 2020 Nike Hoop Summit will take place on Friday, April 10 at 10:00 p.m. EST at the Moda Center in Portland Oregon. Full team rosters and details of the event can be found here.
