The UNC Football program extended a scholarship offer to an in-state recruit in the 2022 class over the weekend

This past weekend was another big one for the North Carolina football program and recruiting as they hosted another Junior Day on the Chapel Hill campus. Just a week ago, UNC landed a commitment from a four-star player in the 2021 class, giving them three commitments fresh off an impressive 2020 class.

While the Tar Heels hosted several recruits and attempted to impress them in hopes of eventually landing them on the recruiting trail, they extended out an offer to a 2022 in-state running back.

Cleveland High’s Omarion Hampton tweeted out that he has officially received a scholarship offer from North Carolina, becoming the 17th player to receive one in the 2022 class:

The offer is the fourth overall for Hampton early in the recruiting cycle as the Tar Heels join Duke, N.C. State and North Carolina Central as players who have offered the running back. It’s good to get in early with a player like Hampton as he’s projected to eventually get some interest from big program across the country.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Hampton is considered one of the top players in the state for the 2022 recruiting class and is a Clayton, North Carolina native. The 247 Sports rankings have yet to be released for the 2022 class, so there is no official ranking just yet for Hampton.

Hampton will certainly be a prospect to keep an eye on as he goes through his recruitment process.
