The UNC Basketball program continues to show interest in this in-state small forward from the 2021 recruiting class. Is an offer on the way?

The North Carolina Tar Heels may have a new in-state recruiting target on their board for the 2021 class.

We mentioned that five-star 2020 UNC commit Walker Kessler was in attendance for Saturday’s game vs. Boston College but now we know that another recruit was also there. Per Tar Heel Illustrated, 2021 four-star forward Dontrez Styles was also in attendance, sitting behind the UNC bench for the game.

The Kinston, North Carolina native was in Chapel Hill for an unofficial visit over the weekend, as there appears to be some significant interest between the two sides. The visit comes just a few days after UNC coaches were in Kinston to watch Styles play in the Kinston vs. Goldsboro matchup:

UNC has yet to offer the 6-foot-7, 190-pound Styles as he currently has 12 offers in his recruitment including from Clemson, Maryland, N.C. State and Pitt among other programs in the country. But will one be coming soon for him from North Carolina?

With the visit and coaches watching the talented small forward last week, we have to imagine that he is due for an offer at some point. It’s clear UNC likes what they see from the in-state recruit and it could be only a matter of time.

Styles is ranked No. 71 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina for the 2021 class. With a big 2020 recruiting class coming in, 2021 could help set up the Tar Heels for a potential Final Four run in two years.
