UNC: Football: Former Tar Heels coach Larry Fedora takes job at Baylor
By Carson Brown
Former UNC Football coach of seven years, Larry Fedora, has officially joined the Baylor staff as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Larry Fedora is back in a coaching role just a year after he was fired as head coach at the University of North Carolina.
On Saturday, news broke that Fedora had accepted a job on Baylor’s coaching staff as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. He joins Dave Aranda’s staff after former head coach Matt Rhule left to take the Carolina Panthers head coaching job in the NFL.
Fedora was the head coach of the Tar Heels from 2011-2018 and went 45-43 in his tenure with the UNC football program. His major accomplishments with North Carolina included an 11 win season and an appearance in the 2015 ACC championship game.
Fedora was fired from the program in 2018 following back-to-back nine loss seasons, but he landed on his feet with as he returned to his home state of Texas and was on the Longhorn staff as an analyst for this previous season.
The offensive coordinator position has the potential to be a great spot for Fedora. He is also the quarterback coach and will have the opportunity to work with some special talent.
The Baylor football team is coming off an 11-3 season which included them competing on New Year’s Day. Fedora is another piece in the rebuild process for Baylor as they were a one-win team just three years ago.
Fedora, praised for his offensive repertoire, should be explosive in his new role with the talent that Baylor presents him and with Jorge Munoz being brought in from LSU to handle the wide receivers, things are continuing to look positive for Baylor.
Fedora was the head coach of Southern Mississippi prior to his position with North Carolina and went 34-19 in his tenure there.
