UNC Football: Tar Heels land four-star in-state linebacker
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Football program nabs another in-state recruit as this four-star inside linebacker committed to the Tar heels on Junior Day
While the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program ended their losing streak in the Dean Dome on Saturday afternoon, the football program was hosting a big junior day on campus.
Dozens of important recruits for the 2021 class were on campus as Mack Brown and his staff hope to impress the recruits. It looks like they have impressed at least one of them so far to the point where they landed a commitment just minutes after the basketball game ended.
Class of 2021 four-star in-state linebacker Power Echols has verbally committed to the Tar Heels during the junior day per Inside Carolina’s Don Callahan.
The commit posted this image on Twitter Saturday afternoon:

The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Echols is a four-star recruit ranked No. 210 national, No. 7 at inside linebacker and No. 11 overall in the state of North Carolina per the 247 Sports rankings. Echols currently plays his high school ball in Charlotte at Zebulon B. Vance and he becomes the third player to commit to the Tar Heels in the 2021 class, joining safety Dontavius Nash and athlete Caleb Hood.
All three are from the state of North Carolina, something Brown and his staff have emphasized in his second stint in Chapel Hill. With the three commitments, North Carolina’s class is currently ranked No. 21 overall early in the cycle. This comes after they landed a top 20 class for the 2020 cycle.
