UNC Basketball: Tar Heels keeping tabs on this 5-star prospect?

Does the UNC basketball program have its sights set on this 5-star point guard from the class of 2022?

Roy Williams and the North Carolina basketball program are in the midst of their worst season in no less than a decade, but reinforcements are on the way. At least, that’s what UNC fans are clinging to amid a 2-5 stretch that now has the Tar Heels at 8-8 overall, and 1-4 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

The Tar Heels do have the No. 3-ranked recruiting class in the nation for 2020, so there’s definitely reason for excitement and optimism. Among their five-man class are three 5-star players — Day’Ron Sharpe, Walker Kessler and Caleb Love — and a pair of 4-star commits that project as multiple-year college athletes.

Furthermore, North Carolina has several scholarship offers extended to top-15 prospects in the class of 2021, and they’re continuing to monitor a handful of others. And although they don’t have any commitments, yet, they appear to be in good position to bring in another strong recruiting class next year. But they’re not stopping there.

The Tar Heels were in the house on Tuesday night for 5-star class of 2022 prospect Jaden Bradley. Bradley is from Concord, North Carolina; the same hometown of current UNC guard Leaky Black. He’s a 6-foot-2, 160-pound point guard from Cannon School who’s ranked No. 7 in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the top-ranked player at his position, and tops in the state of North Carolina.

Bradley is a gifted player with a versatile skill set. He’s a terrific ball handler who can use his right or left hand, and has excellent court vision. He’s capable of creating his own offense, or setting teammates up in good position to score. He’s got great speed in the open court, and effectively leads the fast break. He can stop and start on a dime, change directions in traffic and finish above the rim. He’s got good size for a point guard, and quick hands that make him a pesky defender on the other end of the court.

Bradley currently holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, DePaul, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Wake Forest and Xavier. Duke and Kentucky are among the other schools that have been keeping tabs on Bradley, but are yet to offer him. Expect the talented sophomore’s list of schools to increase greatly over the next couple of seasons.

Although the Tar Heels haven’t found their floor general from the 2021 class yet, Bradley is definitely one to keep an eye on in the class of 2022.
