UNC Basketball: Top 2021 Tar Heels’ target trims his list
By Zack Pearson
A UNC Basketball target in the 2021 recruiting class has trimmed his list down and the Tar Heels have made the cut
The North Carolina Tar Heels have a five-man 2020 recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 3 overall among all classes. Roy Williams and his staff have built a really good five-man class and did it at the right time with the struggles of the current team.
As for the 2021 class, the Tar Heels don’t have a recruit committed and have a few offers out to some prospects.
Their biggest target is five-star guard Kennedy Chandler, a point guard out of Memphis and he recently received an offer from the Tar Heels as well as fellow blue bloods Duke and Kentucky. The offers have changed Chandler’s recruitment a bit as he has a total of 27 offers.
On Friday, Chandler provided the latest update to his recruitment by cutting his list down to 10 teams and moving forward in the next step of his recruitment.

Among them are the Tar Heels who join Duke, Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Southern California.
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound point guard is ranked as the No. 15 overall player in the 2021 class by 247 Sports and the No. 2 point guard. His recruitment took an interesting turn as schools like Michigan, Florida State, Ole Miss and Tennessee among others showed early interest. But then the blue bloods swooped in and got involved.
Chandler will take an unofficial visit to UNC in February as the Tar Heels will have their chance to impress the recruit and hopefully land him.
