Tier 4 Teams:

12. Boston College Eagles

This Eagles team just isn’t anything unique. They are extremely low scoring, and don’t really make up for it defensively. There’s not a lot to work with here, and it’s about to show in the standings. They don’t have the pieces to put together any sort of upset. They recently matched up with Duke, and lost by almost 40. That’s understandable because it’s Duke, but losing by that many should never happen if you have plans to compete at the highest level of the conference. This team will beat who they should, and lose to who they shouldn’t. Expect them to be near the bottom of the conference.

11. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

John Mooney has started his senior campaign off well, but hasn’t made a big enough jump to prevail Notre Dame into the elite category. This team isn’t loaded with offensive threats or weapons, but what they do well is move the ball, which can take you a long way in the college game. If this team can trust each other and move the ball, then they have the potential to upset somebody in the ACC Tournament, but don’t bet on it. This is another average Notre Dame team to add to the constant that’s been recurring for the last few years.

10. Syracuse Orange

The downward spiral of the Syracuse program is continuing this year. The Orange have some talent, but when it comes down to it, they are way too reliant on the skill of Elijah Hughes. The junior from Beacon, New York is averaging nearly 20 points per outing, but outside of that, the contributions from his teammates don’t allow this team to excel in the ACC. And I say that because this is a fairly well put together team, but to compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference you must be elite. This is about your average middle-of-the-pack ACC team, so expect them to have great moments, as well as some not so great moments.
