A UNC Basketball commit impressed over the weekend with his performance at the City of Palms high school basketball tournament

With the holiday season upon us, it means the return of some of the best high school basketball tournaments across the country. The holiday tournaments always bring out the best in recruits as the season is just starting to get going.

One recruit that shined and grabbed the attention of a national analyst happened to be North Carolina commit R.J. Davis.

The four-star prospect participated in the City of Palms Classic with his team, Archbishop Stepinac out of New York, and he was impressive early on. We wrote about Davis’ debut in the tournament last week and on Saturday he may have had his best game as Archbishop Stepinac went 2-1 in the tournament.

247 Sports lead recruiting analyst Evan Daniels wrote on the tournament and who stood out to him this weekend and right there is Davis’ name. Here is what Daniels had to say about the UNC commit:

"North Carolina signee R.J. Davis put together arguably the best performance I’ve seen from him on Saturday at the City of Palms.Davis, a 6-foot-1 lead guard, scored 26 points on 11-for-23 shooting, plus reeled in eight rebounds and tossed out five assists. Obviously that’s good production, but it was how he produced that impressed.Davis used a quick first step, tricky ball handling and his change of pace to keep defenders off balance. He was particularly tough to keep out of the lane, and once there he either dropped in runners, pulled up for mid-range shots or dished it to teammates."

Daniels went on to say that Davis has steadily improved over time and there are no signs of him slowing down. That should be really good news for UNC fans.

Davis is ranked No. 58 overall in the 247 Sports recruiting rankings and at this rate if he continues his play, he could shoot up the rankings. With Davis being one of the five players committed to North Carolina, UNC has a really good class on their hands for 2020.
