UNC Basketball commit Caleb Love is already receiving some early praise following the early signing day period this past week

Class of 2020 five-star guard Caleb Love hasn’t played a single game of college basketball yet and he’s already receiving some praise.

The North Carolina commit picked the Tar Heels on October 1st, choosing them over a few different schools including Kansas and Louisville. With the commitment of Love, UNC added one of the top guards to their class which already included big men Walker Kessler and Day’Ron Sharpe.

Just a few days after the Early Signing Period began, Love received some high praise and a prediction for his freshman season at UNC next year.

Rivals’ Dan McDonald wrote on Love in his latest “nuggets” piece for the site and listed his most impactful players that signed early on. Here is what he had to say about Love who was fifth on his list:

"You’re going to see Cole Anthony have a huge impact in Chapel Hill this year, but unfortunately for Tar Heel fans it will only be for this year as he’ll leave for the NBA after the season. That’s why adding a point guard like Love is so important. The five-star floor general should be able to take the reins at point guard from day one and will have a ton of talent around him. He might only be around for a year or two, but he’s going to be a star for Roy Williams with his ability to both score and set up others."

The Tar Heels have already seen what Anthony, a former five-star recruit, himself can do in just three career games with the program and the best is probably yet to come. But with Anthony likely leaving after a year, they will need someone to step in and take over.

That player will be Love as he can not only distribute the basketball but he can score from almost all over the court as well. Love is a key piece to add to this class that has five players signed including a total of three five-star recruits.
