UNC Basketball commits sign their national letter of intent to North Carolina as the Early Signing Period has officially begun

The early signing period is officially underway for college basketball as recruits across the country can sign their National Letters of Intent to the colleges that have committed too beginning on Wednesday morning. This early period will last a full week until November 20th and then pick up again for the regular period beginning on April 15th.

For the North Carolina Tar Heels, they enter Wednesday with five recruits committed to their 2020 recruiting class and all are expected to sign during this early period.

Roy Williams and his staff have put together an impressive class so far, landing five recruits including three five-stars and two four-stars. They have the chance to add another in Ziarie Williams later on in the recruiting cycle but this is certainly an impressive class either way.

As for this early signing period, here are the UNC Commits that have signed their NLOI so far:

5-star Forward/Center Day’Ron Sharpe

Ranking: No. 17 overall on 247 Sports, No. 13 on Rivals, No. 20 on ESPN.

5-star Guard Caleb Love

Ranking: No. 25 overall on 247 Sports, No. 21 on Rivals, No. 24 on ESPN.

5-star Forward Walker Kessler

Ranking: No. 15 overall on 247 Sports, No. 20 on Rivals, No. 14 on ESPN.

4-star Guard R.J. Davis

Ranking: No. 57 overall on 247 Sports, No. 65 on Rivals, No. 40 on ESPN.

4-star Forward Puff Johnson

Ranking: No. 48 overall on 247 Sports, No. 43 on Rivals, No. 62 on ESPN.

Going into this day, 247 Sports has the Tar Heels class ranked No. 2 overall in the country behind only Duke. It’s an impressive feat for Williams and his staff being able to haul in three five-stars and then adding two key four-star recruits after.

The Tar Heels should have a Top 3 class in 2020 no matter what but adding a player like Williams could also put them over the top.
