The UNC Basketball program has shown some interest in 2021 five-star point guard but have yet to extend an offer to the recruit

The North Carolina Tar Heels pretty much have their 2020 recruiting class locked up with five commitments ahead of the early signing period. They would love a commitment from five-star recruit Ziaire Williams who is expected to announce in 2020.

But if they don’t get that, I imagine they will be just fine with this class as it stands.

As we approach the early signing period, Roy Williams and his staff have their eyes on a few players in 2021 as well. One of those recruits is five-star point guard Kennedy Chandler out of Memphis Tennessee.

Chandler is ranked as a Top 20 recruit by 247 Sports and the No. 2 guard in the class. While there hasn’t been a whole lot on his recruitment, it appears the Tar Heels have been in contact and are showing interest.

Fox 13 in Memphis wrote on Chandler and his recruitment so far, saying that big programs like UNC have been in contact:

"He’s a savvy point guard with leaping ability that will shock you at 6-foot-1. This is why coaches from Duke, Kentucky, Memphis and North Carolina are in contact.“It’s just a blessing,” Chandler said. “Just for me getting recruited by all these schools, top schools in the nation. But for me I just gotta keep on pushing myself and working harder every day.”"

Chandler hasn’t released a top schools list yet but has started taking official visits. He just finished one with Syracuse over the weekend and will visit Ole Miss and Florida State before focusing on USA Basketball tryouts.

According to this article by Cuse Nation, that was the first round of visits but there are no plans of yet to take another round. Chandler could be ready to make his decision in the Summer as well if there are no more visits.

He currently does not have an offer from UNC but if it happens, we imagine it could change his recruitment.
