UNC Basketball: 5-star target to visit Arizona this weekend
By Zack Pearson
A top target for the UNC Basketball program in the 2020 recruiting class will take an official visit to Arizona this weekend
The North Carolina Tar Heels have their eyes on a few more recruits left in the 2020 recruiting class despite having four players committed.
Five-star recruits Day’Ron Sharpe, Walker Kessler and Caleb Love as well as four-star guard R.J. Davis currently make up UNC’s 2020 class which is ranked in the Top 5. But Roy Williams and his staff hope they aren’t done yet and can add some help on the wing.
Among the players UNC still has offers out to include forward Ziaire Williams. The five-star forward out of the West Coast has been one of UNC’s top targets for just over a year now and he’s even taken some visits to Chapel Hill.
While the Tar Heels were considered the early favorites to land him, it appears as if some teams on the West Coast might be zeroing in on him. One of the teams that is making him a priority is Arizona and this weekend, Williams will be making a trip to Tucson.
247 Sports’ lead recruiting analyst Evan Daniels announced that Williams will be taking his official visit to Arizona this weekend:
So far, Williams has taken visits to both UNC and USC earlier this year and now we can add Arizona to that list. In addition, StockRisers’ Jake Weingarten is reporting that Williams is working on a visit to Oregon as well.
The No. 5 recruit in the country has mentioned a few times that he doesn’t have a timetable on any announcement and all signs point to a decision coming something in 2020. It’s tough to rule UNC out at this moment but the longer this recruitment drags on, it could hurt their chances.
