The UNC Basketball program is hosting a four-star shooting guard on campus this weekend for his official visit

As Roy Williams and his staff continue to build their 2020 recruiting class, they will have the chance to impress a recruit this weekend.

Four-star shooting guard Kerwin Walton will take his official visit to Chapel Hill and the UNC Basketball program beginning Friday and lasting through the weekend to Sunday. This will be the second official visit in Walton’s recruitment as he took a trip to Arizona in late September.

Walton has a total of 23 offers so far in his recruitment and is one of the top shooting guards in the country. The Minnesota native caught the eyes of the Tar Heels staff as they have hit the Midwest watching recruits in the state including Dawson Garcia. But Walton appeared to grab UNC’s attention and they have been in contact since.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Walton earned his UNC offer on September 18th, a week before he visited the Wildcats. Shortly after that, he decided he would take an official visit to Chapel Hill which could shake up his recruitment.

While UNC does have five-star Caleb Love and four-star R.J. Davis in their backcourt, adding a true shooting guard like Walton isn’t out of the question.

Williams and his staff have a need for more scoring on the wing and Walton would certainly provide that. His scoring ability ranks up there among the top recruits in the country and would be huge for the Tar Heels to go along with the playmaking guards in Love and Davis.

He’s currently ranked as a Top 100 player per 247 Sports and the No. 20 shooting guard in the nation.

As for his recruitment, it’s tough to see Walton making a decision before the Early Signing Period in November. He still has some visits to take and unless UNC wins him over in a big way, like they did with Walker Kessler, this recruitment is probably going into 2020.
