Which player is the best bet for the UNC Basketball program to add to their 2020 recruiting class? One analyst broke it all down

With four players committed to their 2020 recruiting class, Roy Williams and his staff are on the verge of one of their best classes so far.

Five-stars Walker Kessler, Caleb Love and Day’Ron Sharpe as well as four-star R.J. Davis have committed to North Carolina so far and will sign during next month’s Early Signing Period but the Tar Heels might not be done just yet. They still have offers out to a few recruits including Cade Cunningham, Bryce Thompson, Puff Johnson, Greg Brown and Ziaire Williams.

While Cunningham and Brown seem unlikely, the Tar Heels are still hoping to reel in either Thompson or Williams to add to the class. But which one makes the most sense?

Well, Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans was asked about how Davis’ commitment to UNC on Monday would impact other recruits. He broke down which recruit made the most sense for the Tar Heels now that they have two commits for their backcourt.

His answer? Ziaire Williams:

"Where North Carolina might place even greater value is in a versatile wing-forward. The program’s best bet would be Ziaire Williams, but his decision is not expected anytime soon. If not Williams, Puff Johnson, the younger brother of former North Carolina standout Cam Johnson, would do. He is scheduled to visit Chapel Hill on Nov. 2. Greg Brown would be an awesome addition, but he is more of a long shot for the Heels."

Evans also goes on to mention that the Tar Heels wouldn’t say no to a commitment from Cunningham and would work it out with the backcourt they have. However, Cunningham does seem destined to end up at Kentucky.

Williams is the best option in our eyes as well. He can play the wing, allowing Love to run the point guard and Davis to split time at shooting guard. UNC will also have Anthony Harris and Rechon Black back for another year.

As for where Williams stands in his recruitment, this one appears to be going the distance for a commitment sometime in 2020, similar to what happened with Cole Anthony. Let’s just hope it’s the same result.
