The UNC Basketball program hosted a four-star combo guard last weekend and he dished on his visit with the Tar Heels and a possible commitment timeline

The North Carolina Tar Heels are in great shape with their 2020 recruiting class with three five-star recruits already committed.

As we continue to move towards the Early Signing Period in mid-November, the Tar Heels are hoping to add to the class which is currently ranked No. 3 overall. They have a few options to do so with offers out to about five more recruits.

One of those recruits, R.J. Davis, took his official visit to UNC just last weekend as he’s down to four teams in his recruitment. Davis has UNC, Georgetown, Pitt and Marquette left on his final list and he took official visits to all of those programs. His latest one was to UNC and now a few days later, Davis talked about that visit.

Rivals reporter Corey Evans interviewed Davis and caught up with him about his visit to UNC where he dished on the details:

"North Carolina was a great visit just like all of my other ones. I got a chance to hang out with the guys, which was my main priority going into that visit, to just get a feel for them and get a sense for what they are like. I got to watch them practice and spend time with the coaching staff to just understand how I would fit in with their recruiting and their school."

The four-star guard would be a big addition to UNC’s backcourt for 2020 and beyond as they already have five-star point guard Caleb Love committed. Roy Williams and his staff will have some depth issues to address after this season with Cole Anthony likely being a one-and-done.

UNC should return Anthony Harris and Jeremiah Francis while adding Love. But will the commitment of Love drive Davis away? That was another topic he talked about with Evans:

"Coach Roy (Williams) emphasized that he wants to play with two point guards and he isn’t taking three; he wants to play with two point guards and he feels like playing with one point guard with Coby White was a downfall last year. Going into next year and the following years, he wants to have two point guards like what he had with Joel Berry and Marcus Paige. He felt like he was more successful that way."

Davis is the No. 57 overall recruit in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings and the No. 7 combo guard in the class. With Early Signing Day approaching, Davis will likely make his decision before then and sign during the period.

But for now, Davis told Evans that he doesn’t have a timetable and he’d like to get it all set before his senior season starts.
