One of the top targets left for the UNC Basketball program breaks down his visit to Chapel Hill and what’s next in his recruitment

Last weekend, the North Carolina Tar Heels hosted a few top recruits for visits as they unofficially tipped off the 2019-20 college basketball season with “Late Night With Roy.”

The annual event has become a staple for the university over the years including a big recruiting event for the basketball team. This year, UNC hosted five total recruits including five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe who is already committed to the program.

The biggest target on UNC’s recruiting board was also on campus for his visit as the No. 2 overall player in the 2020 class, Cade Cunningham, took his official last weekend. Cunningham has listed UNC on his final list and there appears to be serious interest even after the Tar Heels landed point guard Caleb Love earlier in the week.

Roy Williams and his staff would love to have to add a player like Cunningham to their class which features Love, Sharpe and fellow five-star Walker Kessler. Landing Cunningham would give UNC another elite player in their back court too. But where do the Tar Heels stand?

Well, Cunningham wrote a blog on his latest visit to Chapel Hill and it sounds pretty positive for the Tar Heels. Here is what Cunningham said about his visit via USA Today:

"OK, I’m just coming off my official visit to UNC and it was great! On Friday we all met up and took a tour of the school; just getting a feel for the campus. That night they had Late Night with Roy, and when we walked in the whole place gave us a standing ovation. I wasn’t expecting all that. I didn’t think they knew who we were like that. The event was great, a lot of dancing and good energy."

Cunningham went on to say that he spoke with former point guard Coby White who was just selected No. 7 overall by the Chicago Bulls after one year at UNC as well as Roy Williams, who shared his plans on how he would like to use Cunningham in his offense.

There is some good stuff from Cunningham in the blog post including updates on where he’s heading next for official visits and a possible timeline for his recruitment. I suggest you read it for some more insight on Cunningham.
