Is the UNC Basketball program the favorite for this five-star point guard out of the Midwest? One recruiting analyst thinks so.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are still hoping to add a wing to their 2020 recruiting class as they will have a spot to fill when Cole Anthony likely leaves after just one season.

As we head into the Fall, the recruitment for a lot of 2020 prospects will start to heat up as they will take visits and then some announce their decision. One recruit that’s on UNC’s radar and will likely announced during the Early Signing Period is five-star point guard Caleb Love.

The Missouri native is drawing interest from programs in the Midwest, as well as the Tar Heels in his recruitment. He recently announced his Top 6 listing the Tar Heels, Arizona, Kansas, Louisville, Missouri and Indiana on that list.

But with Love starting to take his visits, which team is in the lead?

Lead recruiting analyst Evan Daniels of 247 Sports wrote on Love in his “Ask Evans” column earlier this week when he was asked as to who he thinks leads the way for the point guard. He mentioned that no one should count out in-state Missouri in the race but labeled the Tar Heels as one of two favorites:

"Missouri has certainly made Caleb Love a priority. Love took his official last weekend and met with him at his school this week. They are definitely in the mix, but there’s a lot to still play. Love has scheduled official visits to Kansas, Louisville and North Carolina. Those schools sent head coaches to his school this week. My gut says that Louisville and North Carolina currently lead. I think he’s tracking for a fall decision."

This isn’t the first time the Tar Heels have been named a favorite for Love either. Just over a week ago, Rivals’ Eric Bossi wrote on Love and mentioned the Tar Heels as a favorite as well, saying that Missouri could be their biggest competition.

UNC will have their chance to impress Love this weekend as he will be on campus for his official visit in Chapel Hill.
