UNC Basketball: Tar Heels’ 2019-20 ACC schedule revealed
By Zack Pearson
The ACC has released their 2019-20 conference schedule with just under two months until the start of the season. See who and when the UNC Basketball program will face.
For a while now we have known the opponents for the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program in the 2019-20 schedule, including conference and non-conference. But the only thing missing was the full schedule with dates and times.
On Thursday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced the full conference schedule for the upcoming basketball season with a special program on the new ACC network. The schedule was revealed for all 15 teams including the Tar Heels.
UNC will open up their 2019-20 conference schedule on the very first game of the year by hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Dean Dome on Nov. 6 in a game that will be broadcasted live on the ACC Network. They will then end their schedule with a trip to Durham to take on rival Duke on Saturday, March 7th.
Sandwiched in-between those games is a December 7th matchup at Virginia, the second conference game of the year as the ACC has switched to a 20-game schedule, making for some earlier conference games this year. Having those two games mixed in with non-conference games will be different and something UNC isn’t used to doing.
They will go to their conference schedule like normal in early January, hosting Georgia Tech (Jan. 4), Pitt (Jan. 8) and Clemson (Jan.11). The three-game home stretch will be the longest of the year for the Tar Heels.
Their longest road trip will be just two games when they go to Pitt on Jan. 18th and then Virginia Tech on Jan. 22nd. Here is a look at the Tar Heels full conference schedule:
The 2020 ACC Tournament will take place in Greensboro from March 10th to the 14th, just three days after UNC finishes off the regular season in Durham.
UNC will host their unofficial tipoff to the 2019-20 season by hosting Late Night With Roy on Friday, September 27th.
