The UNC Basketball program is still in the running for a top recruit in the 2020 class but his recruitment is a ‘guessing game’ according to an analyst

The North Carolina Tar Heels have been in pursuit of five-star forward Isaiah Todd for more than a year now. The No. 13 overall player in the 2020 recruiting class has had a relatively quiet recruitment lately, not offering many hints as to where he’s leaning.

Toddy has a total of 23 offers so far in his recruitment and for the longest time it sounded like UNC were the favorites.

But as time has gone on, both Kentucky and Memphis have now emerged as legit contenders and there is no telling where Todd will go. The 6-foot-10 power forward recently released his final five teams and will take visits this Fall before making his decision, which will likely happen in 2020.

On Thursday, Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans touched on Todd’s recruitment and where he thinks the five-star recruit is leaning. Evans watched Todd participate at the Nike Skills Academy and called him one of his standouts. But as for his recruitment, well Evans says it’s a guessing game at this point:

"For his recruitment, it is a total guessing game. He released his final five last week which consists of Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, and North Carolina. A year ago, there was a chance that he could reclassify into the 2019 class with UK and UNC as his top landing spots. Now, Todd is in no rush to come to a college decision and while he will likely visit all five of his finalists, none have been scheduled, which could equate to a spring signing."

Todd played his first two seasons of high school basketball at John Marshall in Virginia but decided to transfer to Word Of God Christian Academy in Raleigh for his junior and senior seasons. Being in the state of North Carolina may give the Tar Heels a slight edge in his recruitment.

With some heavyweights like Kentucky, Kansas and now Memphis getting involved, it just makes it that much more difficult for the Tar Heels to land him. Either way, UNC will have their shot to make a good impression when he does visit Chapel Hill sometime this Fall.
