One recruiting analyst thinks the North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball program is in a good spot for a trio of 2020 recruiting targets

The basketball recruiting cycle will start to pick up this Fall as several class of 2020 recruits are starting to schedule visits. Getting on college campuses for official visits is the next step for a lot of recruits in the 2020 class and the North Carolina Tar Heels will be receiving their fair share of visits come this Fall.

Roy Williams and his staff have a few big targets still remaining on their 2020 recruiting board, hoping to add to a class that already has five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe committed.

Among the top recruits the Tar Heels are still heavily pursuing is Ziaire Williams, Greg Brown, Isaiah Todd, Caleb Love, Donovan Johnson, Bryce Thompson, Walker Kessler, Dawson Garcia and Earl Timberlake. Those seem to be the recruits that UNC is starting to prioritize as we hit the Fall season.

While Williams was recently offered by Duke and is now on the Blue Devils radar, one national recruiting analyst thinks the Tar Heels are in a good spot with three of the above mentioned recruits.

In his Wednesday leftovers article, Rivals analyst Corey Evans answered a Twitter question about UNC’s chances to land a wing. He mentioned that doesn’t think Williams is a done deal for Duke and named three recruits he thought UNC sit in a good spot for:

"Second, the Tar Heels have already thrown out offers to a lot of the top wing prospects in the 2020 class. Greg Brown, Puff Johnson, Isaiah Todd, Earl Timberlake, and Dawson Garcia are all wings or wing-forwards that are being actively recruited by North Carolina. The Tar Heels are going to strike out more often than they win when it comes to that group, but they do sit in a good spot for Brown, Johnson and Todd."

Ideally, UNC would love to land all three or two at the fewest. But even if they landed just one of Brown, Johnson or Todd, it would still be a win if they could also add Williams to the mix.

Brown is the most skilled of the trio and is one of the top big men in the 2020 recruiting class and his recruitment will likely come down to Texas vs. UNC. While UNC has been on Todd’s radar for a while, Kentucky has also been interested.

Johnson’s older brother, Cam, played two seasons at UNC and he has been on campus several times. So he is familiar with the program but the Tar Heels will have to beat out Arizona and Pitt to land him.

There is still a long way to go and all three are very likely going to be on UNC’s campus at some point this Fall. The Tar Heels will have their chance to seal the deal with these recruits and hopefully bring in a big recruiting class for 2020.
