The UNC Basketball program continues to remain in contact with one of the top players in the 2020 recruiting class

Roy Williams and his staff are hoping to build a big 2020 recruiting class for the North Carolina Tar Heels with five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe already verbally committed. Williams has offers out to several of the top players in the class and recently made the cut as a few recruits listed their finalists.

With Cole Anthony likely being a one-and-done player and both graduate transfers Christian Keeling and Justin Pierce only being eligible for one year, Williams and his team have a big need on the wing for the 2020 class.

One of the prospects that Williams has targeted is five-star combo guard Jalen Green. The No. 3 overall recruit in the 2020 class by 247 Sports recently set a decision date for December 25th, 2019. Green has a total of 19 offers but the Tar Heels have yet to extend one, or at least that we know of.

Kentucky and Memphis appear to be the favorites to land Green but don’t count the Tar Heels out just yet.

Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers tweeted out that Green hopes to visit the Wildcats and Tigers but also dropped a nugget on UNC. He said that the Tar Heels have kept in contact with the California product:

With UNC still showing interest an offer could be coming very soon. In an interview with Evan Daniels of 247 Sports, Green did say that the Tar Heels recently showed interest with Hubert Davis watching him.

UNC does have some ground to make up in this recruitment as it will be tough to beat out Kentucky or Memphis. But the first step should be to get him on campus for an official visit and then take it from there.
