This class of 2020 UNC basketball target is set to visit the University of Pittsburgh in August

Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels have secured just one commitment from a class of 2020 prospect — 5-star center Day’Ron Sharpe. Sharpe’s pledge to the Tar Heels came well over a year ago, and while it’s a great start to any recruiting class, fans are becoming anxious for North Carolina to add to next year’s haul.

One of the many players that the Tar Heels are looking at for next season is Earl Timberlake, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound small forward out of Hyattsville, Maryland. A rising senior at DeMatha Catholic High School, Timberlake is teammates with fellow UNC target Hunter Dickinson.

Timberlake already had 30 scholarship offers when he announced a top-7 list last week that consists of Alabama, Miami, North Carolina, Pitt, Providence, Seton Hall and South Carolina. Among the teams that Timberlake cut from contention are Cincinnati, Florida, Kansas State, Maryland, Louisville, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

Now that he’s trimmed down his list of schools, Timberlake is looking to visit some of his finalists. Stockrisers‘ Jake Weingarten reported that Timerlake will be visiting the University of Pittsburgh on the weekend August 30. He’s also got a mid-September trip to Miami planned, but nothing else is on his schedule at this time.

Timberlake is most commonly recognized for his tremendous size and chiseled physique. He’s a strong, powerful wing with plenty of athleticism and play-making abilities. He can create his own shot, but works best inside the three-point arc. He’s explosive, versatile, and capable of playing well on both ends of the court. He should be able to play and defend multiple positions at the collegiate level. He’s a solid passer and excellent rebounder, too, and can run the break very well.

Currently No. 28 in the class of 2020 according to the 247Sports Composite, Timberlake is the sixth-ranked player at his position, and No. 1 in the state of Maryland. There are still no predictions in Timberlake’s Crystal Ball, and each of his seven finalists appear to have a pretty good shot at earning his commitment.
